What is Sorona Fabric?
What is the Sorona® fabric?
Originally developed by DuPont™ and now produced by Covation Biomaterials, Sorona is a partially bio-based fibre made from renewable plant-based ingredients. More specifically, 37% of its content is derived from industrial corn crops. A source material that is more renewable than petroleum-based synthetics.
This high-performance material blends the softness of cotton with the durability of polyester, without the environmental toll.
Why is Sorona® fabric eco-friendly?
By choosing this fabric, we (Mystimanic and you, the customer) help to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and cuts down greenhouse gas emissions, which contributes to a lower carbon footprint.
Furthermore, it requires less energy and water to produce than traditional synthetic fibres, like polyester.
What are the other benefits of the Sorona® fabric?
It’s softer than your usual 100% cotton fabric, has a natural stretch and resists wrinkles. Garments made with the Sorona fabric tend to keep their shape for a longer time. These qualities make it a versatile option for everyday apparel where comfort and durability matter.
How to know if a garment is legitimately made from Sorona® fabric?
When you order our Eco-Friendly Oversized T-shirts or any other piece of clothing made from Sorona fabric, you will receive a branded hang tag attached to it offering full transparency into the sourcing and performance of the fabric.
